Spanish and Portuguese

The undergraduate program in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese is designed to develop competence in written and spoken Spanish or Portuguese through study of the structure and history of one or both languages, and a critical understanding of the development of their literatures in the Old World and the New. The faculty strive to maintain a balance between language and literature, and between colonial and Latin American facets of a unified field.
