German

The German program challenges students to gain fluency in the German language and to acquire cultural competency through a large selection of courses in literature, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, history, film, and business. Students in the major read works in their original language, and often study abroad in German speaking countries.

Lower Division Requirements for the German Major

  • German 1, 2, 3, 4, or the equivalents

Lower Division Requirements for the Dutch Studies Major

  • Dutch 1, 2, or the equivalents
  • History 8B
  • One social science course from the approved list, based on student's intended focus.

*Students must have completed at least two of the required lower division courses before declaring the major.
